Job Summary:
For our location in Auburn Hills, Michigan, we are seeking a Logistics Automation Project Manager. The focus of the position is to define optimized intralogistics solutions for plant material (inbound, WIP, finished goods, service) and information flow (goods receipt, storage, line feeding, shipping) and support implementation.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Manage all aspects of a complex engineering project(s), from start to finish, so that it is completed on time and within budget.
  • Investigate opportunities to minimize and standardize material handling operations within production plants.
  • Develop investment roll ups for solutions to material handling problems.
  • Issue scope of work, hold pre bid meetings and aid in selection of suppliers.
  • Track project costs for the program.
  • Coordinate all open issues meetings with production plant and suppliers throughout the planning and launch phases.
  • Track timeline and deliverables for all key milestones.
  • Present updates and status to Senior Management when needed.
  • Understanding of Material flow within manufacturing environments along with the triggers affecting it such as product mix, process flow, production strategy, delivery method (batch, JIT, JIS), delivery lead times, packaging specifications, container turns/shift etc.
  • Gather Lessons Learned and Best Practices to streamline future projects.
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders (IT, Process Eng., Safety, Logistics…)

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required in Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Packaging.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Sit, stand and mobility to move around the office or manufacturing environment, when needed. Conduct computer work or engage in discussion with employees. International Travel: 5% Domestic Travel: 50%
  • Familiar with Lean Manufacturing and basic problem-solving tools.
  • Ability to perform dock, storage and indirect manpower analysis and external logistics set up.
  • Experience in working with operators and team leaders on shop floor while launching new projects in production plants.
  • Superior computer skills in MS Office applications and AutoCAD.
  • Strong desire of learning, benchmarking and superior ability in multi-tasking while being driven to achieve aggressive deadlines.
  • Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
