Mission:
The Regional Purchasing Director will manage the Purchasing function which will include the overall strategy, people and budgetary management. This role will ensure optimal supplier performance and price, operating in line with the objectives of the business to add value, mitigate supply chain and deliver cost savings. The Regional Purchasing Director is an integral part of the senior management team for the region which determines overall strategy and business decisions for the region following the Group Strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Create and implement best practice purchasing vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve business performance
- Ensure purchasing strategies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality, and delivery targets, enabling the company to function and compete effectively in the market to include: Terms and conditions, supplier selections/de-selection, evaluation and rationalization of supply chain solutions including vendor managed inventory, supplier consignments and safety stock
- Evaluate the challenges faced by the business and take actions to mitigate risks and develop opportunities
- Contribute to overall business strategy and annual budget process
- Take ownership of the purchasing policy, guidelines and any associated documents
- Manage strategic relationships and negotiate with key suppliers including contract terms to ensure value for money, quality standards and delivery terms with technical and operational input from stakeholders
- Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer supplier power
- Seek, partner, and develop an overall vendor and supplier base to create and sustain a competitive advantage utilizing global market exploitation, leveraging spends and technologies
- Develop, implement, and maintain a supplier relationship and evaluation processes to measure effective supplier performance and compliance
- Coach, mentor, and develop the Purchasing team in the region and perform at a high level to deliver continuous improvement, added value, and cost reductions
- Ensure strong communication between teams under leadership to facilitate exchange of information and in order to implement change and improvements
- Provide leadership, coordination, and coaching to the Purchasing team, ensuring they are trained properly in order to achieve the operational and financial metrics within their areas of responsibility and succeed in their roles
- Establish best practices for the Purchasing team to ensure achievement of overall business objectives. Work within the Group Commodities Purchasing team to translate strategy for the region into specific annual performance goals and departmental objectives including KPIs, Financial Budget and Control
- Prepare the annual Purchasing budget and forecasts for the region
- Collaborate, negotiate, and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the purchasing strategy
- Communicate with stakeholders the impact of market change and potential effects on supply. Recommend solutions without compromising quality or service while optimizing costs
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor's Degree: Supply Chain Management, Purchasing or other Business Related Field.
- 10+ Years of experience of leading purchasing function. Proven track record in leadership delivering purchasing strategies, policies, processes and systems
- Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements
- Experience in contract and supplier management
- Knowledge and technical understanding of automotive processes and components and supply chain management
- Knowhow of the region market
- English fluent, additional languages is an advantage (i.e Spanish, German, Chinese, Korean).
- Experience with the development in direct contact with OEM Purchasing departments (Ford, Stellantis, GM, Honda, Nissan, etc.)
- Availability to travel within Mexico, US and Europe (occasional trips are expected.)
